ChoreScore Terms of Use

Last updated: July 7, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding legal agreement and End User License Agreement (EULA) between you and ChoreScore ("ChoreScore," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the ChoreScore app and website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, accepting these Terms, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Please read these Terms carefully. They include important provisions that limit our liability, disclaim warranties, and — for users in the United States — require most disputes to be resolved by individual binding arbitration and waive class actions (see Sections 13 and 14).

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an account and accept these Terms. A parent or legal guardian must create the household account. By creating a household and inviting a child, the parent or guardian confirms they are that child's parent or legal guardian and consents to the child using the Service and to the collection and processing of information described in our Privacy Policy. Children may use the Service only under the supervision of, and within a household or classroom set up by, a responsible adult. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization (such as a school), you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account or household account. Parents and guardians manage their children's accounts, including reviewing tasks, approving rewards, and deleting accounts when needed. Provide accurate information when signing up and keep it current. Notify us promptly at hello@chorescore-app.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Acceptable use

We may investigate and take appropriate action, including removing content and suspending or terminating accounts, for any violation of these Terms.

4. Subscriptions and purchases

ChoreScore offers a free tier and an optional "Pro" subscription with additional features. Paid subscriptions are billed through your app store account. Payment is charged to your app store account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. A lifetime option, if offered, is a one-time purchase with no recurring charges. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your app store account settings. Except where required by law or by the applicable app store's policies, purchases are non-refundable, and prices and features may change on a prospective basis.

5. User content and license

Content you create in the Service — tasks, rewards, photos, notes, and messages — belongs to your family or your organization. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, and display that content solely to operate and improve the Service and provide it to you. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit the content and that it does not violate these Terms or any law. You are responsible for the content your household or classroom adds.

6. AI features and no professional advice

Some optional features use artificial intelligence to generate feedback or suggestions (for example, coaching tips or dispute mediation). When these features are used, relevant content — such as a child's task photo, the task description, and a teen's dispute message — is sent to a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) to generate the result, as described in our Privacy Policy. By enabling these features and accepting parental consent at sign-up, you agree to this processing.

The Service, including any AI output and the educational "life skills" games, is provided for general informational and family-coordination purposes only. It is not professional advice of any kind — financial, investment, tax, legal, medical, psychological, or educational — and must not be relied on as a substitute for the judgment of a qualified professional or a parent or guardian. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate and is provided to assist, not replace, human judgment. You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on the Service.

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties to function, including OpenAI (optional AI features), Apple and Google (sign-in and app distribution), RevenueCat and the app stores (subscriptions and purchases), and Resend (account emails such as password resets). Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services, and we are not liable for their acts, omissions, availability, or content.

8. Termination and account deletion

Parents can delete a child's account or their own account from the Profile screen. Deleting the last parent account may also delete the household and its data. You can also request deletion by emailing hello@chorescore-app.com. You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, to protect the Service or other users, or to comply with law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 6, and 9 through 17) will survive.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," with all faults and without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components, that data will not be lost, or that the Service will meet your requirements or produce any particular result. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChoreScore and its owners, officers, employees, agents, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) fifty U.S. dollars (US$50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or, in some jurisdictions, death or personal injury caused by negligence. Where such liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ChoreScore and its owners, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your content, your use or misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party. We may assume the exclusive defense of any matter subject to indemnification, and you agree to cooperate with our defense.

12. Governing law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules and excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. This choice of law does not deprive you of any protection you are entitled to under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence.

13. Dispute resolution and binding arbitration (United States)

This Section 13 applies to users located in the United States. Please read it carefully — it affects how disputes are resolved.

We would like to resolve any concern informally first, so before filing a claim you agree to contact us at hello@chorescore-app.com and to try in good faith to resolve the dispute for at least 30 days. Except for the matters listed below, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that is not resolved informally will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered under the rules of a recognized arbitration provider, rather than in court. The arbitration will take place in the jurisdiction identified in Section 12 or in your county of residence, and judgment on the award may be entered by any court with jurisdiction.

Class-action waiver: disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis. You and ChoreScore waive any right to bring or participate in a class, collective, consolidated, or representative action, and the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.

This Section does not apply to small-claims-court matters that qualify, or to requests for injunctive relief to protect intellectual property or stop misuse of the Service. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing hello@chorescore-app.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating your name and that you opt out. If the class-action waiver is found unenforceable, the remainder of this Section will not apply to that dispute.

14. Users outside the United States

If you are a consumer outside the United States, the arbitration and class-action-waiver terms in Section 13 apply only to the extent permitted by the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and nothing in these Terms removes rights that those laws give you, including the right to bring proceedings in your local courts. You are responsible for complying with the laws of your location when you use the Service.

15. International use and export compliance

The Service is operated from the jurisdiction identified in Section 12, and information may be processed in the United States and other countries as described in our Privacy Policy. We make no representation that the Service is appropriate or available in every location. You agree to comply with all applicable export-control and sanctions laws, and you represent that you are not located in a country or on a list subject to such restrictions that would prohibit your use of the Service.

16. Force majeure

We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, labor disputes, government action, internet or utility failures, third-party service outages, or cyberattacks.

17. General

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and supersede prior agreements on that subject. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect and the unenforceable provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Headings are for convenience only.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where required by law, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
